About a week ago I noticed that my left ear made a squishy sound deep inside when I yawned. Then it started happening when I swallowed. I started rinsing it with alcohol some nights, thinking there was water in there. It never went away though, so I used some peroxide to bubble it out for a couple of nights. Still it never went away. It would go away for a while, but always come back and often with a mild ache.

Tonight it's in both ears, aching badly, and even my neck below each ear aches. I'm thinking the neck ache may be glands, and that maybe I have an ear infection.

Anyone got any other suggestions I can try to see if it helps.
(Warm wet compresses just make me feel warm and wet, BTW, and not any better.)

There is some trick with warm water and a dixie cup. If I remember correctly you put hot, steamy water in a plastic dixie cup and then lean your head against it so all the steam goes up into the ear. Hmmm... maybe a mom will come along and tell you how to do this one properly.

Normal for me is between 96-97. Never had a temp above 101 in my entire life.
Will take it though just to see....

Temp is 97.5

Sweet oil? I have a variety of aromatherapy oils but none labelled sweet. What IS sweet oil??

Cigarette smoke is out. Have no fresh garlic unless I go pull some from the garden.

A friend suggested pouring brandy down my throat until my ear went numb

I swear an earache is the most awful thing. You can't rub it or scratch it or make it better.

Someone told my mom that years ago when I was a kid. I got an earache after swimming so she blew cigarette smoke in my ear and put in a piece of cotton. All I can say is the earache went away. I don't know how heathy of a remedy it is, but it worked for me.

Sweet oil is warm olive oil. I have some of that. Will give it a try.
Don't own cigarettes.

And taking Tylenol.

And downloading pics of my birds to try and distract myself.
Because I can't stop rubbing my ears and it isn't helping
