HI, my red six link has white/dry exudate coming from both ears and one eye is oozing clear watery exudate. She is about 5 lbs, appears to be eating normally and behaving the same as usual. I am an RN so I can treat with whatever means neccessary, please advise on what meds to get! Also, is this normally contagious and should I seperate her from the flock? Thanks so much!

When my dog had an ear infection the vet said to use vinegar diluted with warm water. also i know peroxide can be used.. but I wouldn't use it too much.. heres a link that talks about ear infections. www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=5981642

could
the bird have gotten something in it's eye you might try rinsing with some saline solution or putting some neosporin in and around the eye.. I wouldn't start on antibiotics right off. but if it doesn't look better in a day or 2 then you might want to look into antibiotics.
always separate from the rest until you know what your dealing with. sorry and no meds with pain relief that ends with caine.

My rooster had a really bad ear infection and I put hot compress on it to loosen up the crust then I would scrap out the crust from his ear very carefully not to stick it in too far then I also gave him 2cc's of Tylan antibiotic by mouth for 5 days and it cleared up after about 2 weeks. I also put peroxide in once after scraping clean. His ear infection came about because mites were in it. So I treated the mites as well by cleaning out the coop covering it in seven dust and also dusting him with sevin dust. At first I tried using a Q-tip to scrap his ear out but it wouldn't get in far enough so I bought one of those metal things that are used to clean under your toenails. It was perfect because it has a little scoop on the end and it very thin. I was amazed at the amount of crust that was in his ear it was gross and stunk really bad but when I got that last chuck out he yawned like as if his ears popped.
