I keep seeing people repeat this: "You can tell what color egg a hen will lay by the ear lobes. Red for brown, and white for white eggs."
This is true most of the time, but it is never stated with this qualifier.
Holland chickens, for example, do not have white ear lobes and lay white eggs. There are two varieties -- the white variety and the barred variety.
