I had cockatiels and a parakeet once that *loved* having their ears rubbed, so I tried that tonight with a few of the babies and it seemed to go over well. They didn't shriek in pain or terror, and they seemed to tilt their head and push against my fingers (with closed eyes

), so is it safe to assume they enjoyed the ear massages?

I suspect you're right. Some of my hens enjoy it, but not all. They also like their wattles rubbed gently.

Funny story about the ears... My husband was looking at one and started to freak out, then said in a frantic voice, "It has a hole in it's head! Baby!! There's a hole in it's head!!!"

I couldn't help it. I giggled and told him it was the chick's ear, to which he replied, "Ohh... they have ears??"
