Has anyone heard of a hen laying @ 8 weeks? We have 3 hens that are at least a year old that are our current layers. We also have 24 pullets that were hatched April 25th of this year. About 8 weeks ago. Today my wife collected eggs from the best box and found a very small extra egg.

Is it possible for an 8 week old pullet to lay? Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Seriously? A fart egg? Not to be rude but I've read a lot of chicken books and never heard of a fart egg. What is the cause for this? Oh well. I'm just going to call it the magic egg.

Old folks called it a rooster egg because it was believed to rooster laid it. "Fart egg" is what us chicken folk call it. It will most likely not have a yolk. It's a normal although uncommon thing our hens do.

Ya I thought it was weird too when I first heard it. I'm sure theres a scientific word for it but most people just say fart egg. Its just a screw up egg that, as said earlier, will probably have no yolk, making it very small. It just happens, no bodies perfect lol
