Hi all,
I have a few chickens that have suddenly developed lesions in their mouths. I did have a hen that I euthanized due to what I believed was severe canker back in August. I've been checking the rest of them periodically and not noticed anything till all of a suddenly I have multiple, from different pens, showing the same thing. I haven't even checked all my chickens but so far have found about three that have mouths that look suspicious.
Is this canker again or is there a possibility it's something else?

I recommend that you get your birds started on Acidified Copper Sulfate. Here's a link for you with instructions, see post #4. Disregard the first paragraph above the instructions:

See post #5 in this link for more info and where you can order Acidified Copper Sulfate (ACS.)

Thank you.
I have Copper Sulphate but no matter how hard I looked I couldn't find Acidified copper sulfate last time. It just does not seem to be something sold where I live (this includes online).
Do you know if this would be suitable and are the instructions the same?

Also there's a possibility some of my chickens drank out of my geese's water and the geese from the chickens... should I be treating the geese too?

Does anyone have any info or advice? I really want to get them started on treatment but need to know if this is a safe product and how to use it. And whether I need to treat my geese as well.

No need to be afraid of the copper sulfate. The solution is pretty weak, and the copper sulfate is only deadly to the protozoa.

Mix daily and provide as the only source of water for four days.
  • 2 ½ liters of water
  • 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 gram of copper sulfate
It's too difficult to treat 38 chickens twice a day with the tablets. I'd go with the copper sulfate since you have it. Use a plastic waterer since it's acidic.

You have the dose of the 'zole correct for our single patient. She's going to be just fine.

Yes, safe for pea cocks.
Here you are! I would treat everybody just to be safe.
