Early Hatched duckling

We have a duck egg that began hatching a few days ago, unfortunately my younger sister was impatient and fully removed the egg from around the duckling before he was fully developed. I have been sleeplessly trying my hardest to recover this poor baby, and his energy levels have improved over the last few days by feeding him electrolyte watered down chick starter (just to try and give him the nutrients he's missing from the egg) with me giving him food.. there comes the question of needing to poop... he currently still has an umbilical chord that attached him to the egg inside of his rear end. Is there a way i can remove this safety to allow him to poop?

I hope the duckling made it!

It is best to let the umbilical cord fall off on it's own or trim it carefully. You do not want to pull it since it may pull out it's organs
