Today was lock down day for my Ringneck pheasants. First time hatcher here. And one of them is already pipped. Has a pretty good hole going. Is this normal or do you think I received an egg that a Mama had been sitting on.
Thanks,
Terri

I am a nubie too. When I tried to hatch three pheasant eggs, they all piped, then I waited two days till they hatched.

Thanks, I figured as much. Anything to make life more interesting!

Well I have 4 perfect little babies. Sadly 2 more died trying to hatch.
Is it true they have a harder time hatching with a forced air incubator?
Thanks,
Terri

Yes Its True--- In My Experience They Have A Tendancy To Dawdle More Than Other Babies Rather Than Hatch And The Forced Air 'bators' Will Dry Out The Inner Membranes Once The Shell Has A Pip Hole And Thereby "shrinkwrap" The Chick Before It Finishes Hatching. I Use Both Still And Forced And Yes I Know I'm Not Supposed To Help, But I Will Give Them 12-24 Hrs After They Have Ruptured Thru The Shell To "get Out Or I'm Comin' In!" And So Far I Have Very Good Success Rates With It.

Sorry For The Loss Of Your 2.... But Yay For The 4 That Did Hatch!!! And Congrats!

Ya Know Its The Craziest Thing.... I Have Them In Many Breeds, Ages, And Sizes Including 4 Lil Fellas Here In A Brooder In My House--- But I Still Love Lookin At 'em When They're Babies--- They Are Cute. Congrats And Thanx For The Pic!
