Early quitting in eggs

That would be great! It would answer a lot of questions too.
Ok! There’s a small chance I could get an egg mixed up, I have 1 other Pekin laying, which would make a cayuga/pekin cross. They are super cute ducks too. They look like cayugas but with a white bib. I will try to only pick up the cayugas but their eggs look identical. So I don’t want to disappoint you if I accidentally give you one.;)

I wouldn’t be disappointed by someone who was doing something to help me out like this.
We are just baffled by everything. I am dying to have an answer for them as to why I am not messaging them with super exciting pictures of spider web eggs.

So anything that can help is great, thank you so very much!

Sounds great. I will start collecting. :D

So I looked at all the eggs that are part of this batch. They just hit day ten. I cracked open 5 of them. 3 were rouen cayuga crosses, and the others were cayuga. Of the ones I cracked open 2 were infertile and three were fertile. But it seems they stopped day two I guess. Nothing happened in my incubator on day two and 15 of my Welshes are still around even after the power outage last night.

It took a lot for me to cull them because my friend really had high hopes for me to hatch some out of her ducks. So I have two in an incubator still that I just couldn't cull yet, but I don't hold out hope for them.

How long should I have her do the vitamins before we try another set, if her set is still laying that is?

A couple weeks should be good. How could you tell they were crosses?:)

That’s a bummer they were developing, but hopefully she can get it worked out.

Give me your address and I will send these this week!

Because mom is a Rouen and Dad is a Cayuga ;) Those eggs were always white. Plus she kept track of who laid what.

Lol. I’m a ding dong and misunderstood what you were telling me. I thought you were telling me you could tell they were crosses once you cracked the quitters open after a couple days of incubating.:lau

I wonder if Rouen/Cayuga cross is not a good mix. I only got one hatchling out of 10 or 15 I set that were Rouen/Cayuga cross
All of them started developing and then quit early also.

Really that is interesting. I had read that if you mixed Mallard with some breeds that those ducklings would not lay hatching eggs. I wonder if it is the same with this cross. I very far from a genetic person. I just know enough to keep my life interesting and with curious questions like the one above.
