My chicks were hatched the 21/22 of last month, yesterday the heat went off (brooder) and lights out last night, food picked up/put up. This morning when I put the food out a BSL (oddball) came over checked it out and started chuckling/dancing, all the others ran over and started eating.
Why does this guy have to be the dominate? I dont like him, because he is a sexlink, he will look like a barred rock in an EE body. And I wonder just where he came from, the rooster is black EE, the hens are all EEs (except 2 GEMs their chicks are white)
What signs do you see in cockerel that show they may be worth keeping/breeding?

How they treat the humans is number 1, how they treat the hens is number 2. I usually don't care about colors (unless they're really special), though I will consider body shape and size.
Personally, I sort of like barred EEs.
But you're the human. Pick the one you want.

This batch is going to be hard, there are several that look really good (at this point). Now if they can just pass other tests, I have seen 3 of them call alerts,,, and this batch lets me walk up to them and pick them up,, well 'cept the 2 white ones,,,, The rooster that was on the flock is very calm, I hope this passed down.
