Over researched and made myself anxious about coccidiosis

Pics
I once found a bantam chicken in the woods. She was super sick and had bloody poops. Turns out she had coccidia. I was so paranoid because I was keeping her inside. We had a routine where every time she pooped she would scream and I would come and clean up the poop. I did this because I didn't want her eating it and reinfecting herself because chickens sometimes eat their poop. I was starting to believe I had developed a rash on my right wrist but in reality it was because I was washing my hands so much! My skin was raw. I understand your paranoia. Fast forward, I've had my chicken for almost three years now, she lives inside with my parrots, and everything is fine. Just take proper precautions and treat with Corid if any of your chickies get sick and they should okay. :)
Thank you! Your rash story sounds exactly like how my brain works. I had a tiny scratch on my knuckle the other day and was like welp I just cleaned the brooder so definitely just got some mystery chicken disease and gonna die 😂

:hugs Relax. You are going to die, but probably not today and most likely not from the chickens. If it alleviates your anxieties, wear disposable nitrile gloves from Harbor Freight when you clean or handle them, and don't kiss them on the beak, and you'll be fine. ❤️

Oh yes I know the fears are 100% irrational its just how health anxiety works unfortunately haha for the most part Im able to keep reality in mind haha and am hoping the chickens will actually help a bit with that too!

Welcome to the wonderful world of chicken keeping! The hype is real and chickens (as you already know) are amazing!

ENJOY your chicks, love them every day and let them know that.

One thing I practice whether it be with a brooder of chicks or a coop of chickens is cleanliness, cleanliness, cleanliness.

I find that with that mantra you can hopefully avoid most of the preventable stuff. The non preventable stuff (we won't get into that) is out of your hands anyway so try not to worry.

The other thing I practice is prevention, prevention, prevention. Sit with your flock often. Monitor them, how do they look? Anyone or anything look off? Regular flock checks can help escalate any small problems before them become very large problems.

Have fun and welcome!
