One of my hens (9 month old Dominique) started limping very badly about 4 days ago. I did an examination and couldn't find anything, but she did have a very small black spot on the bottom of her foot, which seemed like a scab. There was no swelling or anything else, so I'm wondering if it's really early stage of bumblefoot or something else? She let me peel the scab off and I cleaned the foot very well, sprayed it with Vetericyn, wrapped it and she has been in the penalty box for two days. I also put her on antibiotics. I did not see any 'plug' when I pulled the scab off and squeezed.
She seems to be standing on the good foot and holds the other foot up and her bad foot kind of 'shivers'.
How long does it take once you take measures to cure bumblefoot to see improvement? This is day with her on lockdown.
Any ideas, suggestions, words of wisdom? I've had chickens for 3 years now and this is the first case of possible bumblefoot I've had.
