Hello! I was gifted a fluffy footed chicken from a neighbor and i discovered it is infested with lice. Im purchasing some permethrin and have been cleaning her with coconut oil and epson salt baths. Her feet are very swollen and I dont think it is bumblefoot as there is so scab at the bottom of her foot. Could this be leg mites??? She seems to be in pain when she walks and im not sure how to help her.

How old is she?

Do you have a photo of all of her and the bottom of her feet?

Permethrin dust or spray should help with the lice on the body. I like Permethrin dust to treat the bird, put the dust in a sock and then use it like a powder puff to dust the bird all over working the dust through the feathers all the way to the skin. Make sure to get under the wings and around the vent. Repeat treatment in 7 day intervals. Does she have a lot of nits (lice eggs like qtips) attached to the base of her feathers?

The legs certainly are swollen. I don't see raised scales really that would indicate SLM, but it won't hurt to clean them and apply your oil a few times a week.

The legs may be swollen due to inflammation from the body lice. I'm not sure if she may have Gout or not. Let me tag @dawg53 and @MysteryChicken to see what they think.
