Earthquake

Felt it in northeastern NC too. I was sitting in a meeting with other teachers doing back to school stuff when we felt it. Thought it was construction on the roof at first. Then one of the teachers jumped up on a desk and yelled, "It's an earthquake! Praise Jesus we're all gonna die!! Start praying!!". Then she assumed what I think of as the tornado position while still perched in the student desk. It was all funny til we realized it really was an earthquake and not more last minute construction! My husband was 30 min. North and his office fish tank (darn marine fisheries people) lost two to three inches of water due to sloshing. Crazy!

I work in Rhode Island and felt it there. My chair started shaking and I thought that I was having some sort of an episode or something! I looked up and saw that the blinds were shaking too. Then, I turned to my coworker and at the same time we both said "Do you feel that!?" I've never experienced that before. What a strange feeling!

It's funny how people over react. I left home shortly after the quake to go to work and got stuck in gridlock. Appearently everyone decided to
evacuate their jobs early, and all at the same time. I was late for work.

Well, it made a great excuse. We have been in a rush to build a 100' x 40' paddock and i didnt getthe posts near as straight as i would like but here in WV you have to dodge a rock or two (try a boulder field hidden 12 inches down) So the neighbor comments on the slight imperfection and I stated...."They were dead on, that quake moved'em!!!"

So now we have a great excuse LOL!

we had one in ct. too.... i didnt hear or feel anything, me and my 2 kids were napping when it happened.

I'm in southern WV and I didn't realize anything had happened until an hour later. I was fully engulfed in building a new chicken coop.
It scares me to death because my hubby and my father both work underground as coal miners. I hope and pray there are no further aftershocks. Dad is at work now and hubby is getting ready to go.
