a) Anyone seeing issues with your chickens due to bad AQI from wildfire smoke?

b) I've always done chicks in the spring, but there are chicks at my feedstore (in San Pablo). Anything wrong with having pullets in the winter? They will be integrated to an existing 3-hen flock. Just wondering about the off-season-ness of this, but then on the otherhand, we grow food all year round that other people can't where it's colder and hotter.

Thoughts?

Welcome to BYC.

I hatch chicks year round, so I say go for it!
We got four, and they are darn cute! still in the house, in a big rubbermaid tote, probably for another couple of weeks. We've been trying to handle them a lot to get them used to being held. Do you have any favorite treats that you hand-feed your chicks?
