Got my show entry in the mail yesterday for May 1

Won't be able to stay very late, though, since DD has junior prom. Dh gets to load the birds by himself, so I'm not entering very many this time around!

kcsunshine, I can print up some tags if you haven't bought them yet...

BTW, it won't be anything fancy. Brain is too sluggish for that today....

See you soon!!!!!!!

Went through the parking lot and only seen one car in the back lot with a bumper sticker - chilling with my peeps. No chickens? I was aiming to buy a chicken or two, maybe next time.

Hey there Mtn Cur. This meeting was really only a chance for us to meet and greet each other. One rooster changed hands but that was arranged beforehand. By the way

. Sorry you drove down for nothing.

Ok...update on Marble.

We both made it home successfully. It took me about an hour to put the pen back together; here's a pic now that it's right side up and sound.

A couple of shots of the ol' boy...

Within a few minutes he, Fabio, and He-man were in a dog cussin' contest from ~ 50 yds away.

I'm going to upload all of these to my BYC page, but I thought I'd throw'em in here too; I just took them this evening

My chicken yard

My little coop, just big enough for the two roos and eight hens

And here's the yard with the outline for my chicken house in the forefront. I substitute teach at Union Grove Middle on my day off for "chicken money" and so I'll start it when I get paid at the end of the month. Can't wait to post those images.

It was great meeting everyone today. Look forward to seeing everyone again

Thanks,

Justin, thank you so much for giving Marbles a good home! i was so relieved not to have to put that good looking man-chicken in the the freezer! he looks quite comfortably settled in. hopefully he and Fabio and He-Man will get over their squabbles.

speaking of good looking man-chickens, that Fabio is seriously handsome. if you ever decide to sell some eggs out of him, please please let me know.

do you have a picture of He-Man? i saw a bit of white and red in your coop and the markings looked a lot like my EE of mysterious parentage. i'd like to compare them.

it was great meeting everyone. we should definitely make this a semi-regular thing. i'd be happy to host out here at the farm one day, maybe a picnic or something along those lines!

PS: how cool did i feel calling Cracker Barrel and leaving a message for the Chicken Party!?!?! awesome!

Leah,
Of the two pics in my above post, Fabio's on the left and He-man's on the right. He-man has a very short saddle, is as blockish as a rubic's cube in body and has the solid head and neck feathers. All of these traits indicate a lot of Dorking in his background.

here are the pictures of my GLWs at 3-4 weeks, so you can see how feathered they were.

this is at 21 days. the black one is the GLW.

since they are all conveniently turned where you can't see their combs, i can't tell which are male or female, but this will give you a better idea where mine were at that age.

ahh, it must have been a long day because i seriously thought both those pics were of the same rooster... they are both very nice looking.

so, inversely, do you have picture or the white and red one (which i'm guessing is a hen since it's not one of your boys)? do you have any guesses on what it's pedigree might be?

here's my EE rooster of mysterious pedigree. (when you guys know what he is right away i'm going to pretend not to be embarrassed, so just go with it.
