Easter Chicks - colored chicks

Marshmellow peeps are so good. Roast them over a fire and the sugar coating gets crunchy and the insides are gooey soft!!!

As for the easter chicks, some are dyed in shell through injection into the albumen, while most are dyed in a dip post hatch since they can toss all the cockerels in for the cheap impulse buy chicks.

Well I can say that I've never seen them around here. I don't know whether I would buy them so they would have a good couple of months of good living (cornish) or leave them because I couldn't possibly keep any more roos....

Mmmmmmm I know It's a bit strange, but I like to let them get stale (open a little corner of the package) and then eat them...

As far as the live chicks go, I don't think the fact that they are dyed bothers me as much as they are being looked at like toys and just a way of making profit.

My hubby Zapps the peeps in the microwave and eats em - they're too sugary for me.

Are all the dyed chicks roos? I guess if they dye them in the egg there would be no way for them to pick and choose who to dye.

Are cornish meat birds or dual purpose?

Cornish are meat birds Ideal sales roos, cornish, or dyed ducks. I would assume they may dip their's since they know they are roos..... ??

I think there are multiple ways to dye them and if it is in the egg then it is straight run. I know that they sometimes dye things like RIR's too. Depends really.

Cornish x's are a meat breed. About 5-6 lbs dressed w/o skin at 7-8 weeks.

Stale peeps are pretty good too, putting them in the freezer helps speed the process!

I have lots of sugar teeth and a huge dentist bill to show for it... Still in the process of getting work done... on 10 teeth... They have the right side and the top left side done. They have basically taken out most of the tops of my molars and filled them back in. The ones on my left side are so bad they had to reconstruct the sides of them. No crowns yet, but they say if the fillings don't stay in, they are in the future... Yet, they say I have good brushing habits since my gums are great.... most just grew in with pits too deep for bristles to get into apparently. I'm not going to have any real teeth by the time I'm 30!!!
