I have a buff orpingtonx Easter egger cross male that I am thinking about keeping. He is buff colored with black striping in his hackle. He got the beard and peacomb from mom but is yellow legged. Will his offspring lay green eggs?
No, I believe the indication of egg color is earlobes (correct me somebody if I'm wrong).I plan to breed him back to full blooded ameracaunas. I just thought maybe the yellow legs would be a sign for egg color.
Yes and no. Earlobe color will tell you white vs. brown eggs. Blue is controlled seperately. Blue is basically blue+white, Green is brown+blue, Olive is dark brown+blue. No, I believe the indication of egg color is earlobes (correct me somebody if I'm wrong).
Quote: No, its clear....sort of, I'm always amazed at all the new things I learn about Chicken genetics/behavior/breeds on here!![]()
