Easter Egger a Boy?!

B*gger. My girlfriend really likes this one and was looking forward to the coloured eggs.

You know? We started off with 7 and we've been eating them as they crow. We're down to 2 now so 6 have been boys. I got them from a lady nearby and I'd guess they were a straight run from MPC. I reckon the "straight runs" are what MPC have left after they've pulled out a load of girls.

This doesn't bode well for the 4 orpington chicks currently at 2.5 weeks. They were a straight run too. :-/

Rooster! But don't eat him he's too pretty! Keep him as your only rooster or something! He's too handsome to die!!!!!

I dunno. I have two that look LOTS like him, and they are suppose to be pullets. A bit to young to start laying, and aren't crowing. I'm wondering if some EE's just don't have the beautiful saddle feathers, whether pullet or roo.

If that is a roo, I wish you lived near me! I want an EE roo sooooo bad! I have 6 EE pullets. The only roo I have is a BA that was suppose to be a pullet as well. His saddle feathers didn't come in until later, but his bright red crown, and wattles gave it away at about 6 weeks old. His crow is lovely now. And I just love the way the light reflects off his feathers.

Oh sorry, didn't mean to get so distracted about my handsome roo!

I'd love to keep him, he is very pretty. Unfortunately, if I keep him and someone complains then I get fined hundreds of dollars and could eventually be banned from keeping any chickens at all for 18 months. So it's rooster curry unless someone wants to give him a home... I'm on Long Island.

Gorgeous little rooster!
Don't feel bad- my new Ameraucana "pullet" started crowing two days after I bought "her". After a couple weeks of hoping he was a confused girl, I had to give him away yesterday!
