Easter Egger club!

Just got 5 EE's...So cool and exciting to see what their colors/markings look like coming in as their true feathers come. How would I introduce them to my "pack" that I already have In the coop/run? I don't want them pecked to death, and I do have a "pecker head" lol

If you take a look at post 11292 on this thread you can see my initial step. Of course, my new birds are just 5 weeks old. So that may make a difference.

I have 2 EEs. Kevin and Potpie. Kevin will lay eggs, but he is a prince at heart. Potpie is the princess and she is the sweetest. Potpie has a reddish beard and Kevin has the black beard.

here are my two EE's both are girls... I hope. Dotty is the darker one and her sister Sooty Dotty tends to like to peck my hand a lot lately and once in a while pecks the other chicks. her new favorite thing is to sit on top of the waterer

I am questioning the sex of a couple of the EE I recently bought. Any experts? The one in the back has a more red non developed comb but the other has weird coloring. I know it's still early, just eager to have all hens!

One of my EEs turned out to be a boy. I couldn't tell until he was crowing at.. 12 weeks? Looking back, the only dead giveaway was his huuuge feet. Comb looked identical to his 'sisters'

As part of our first foray into chickens we chose to get 5 Easter Eggers along with 3 Buff Orpingtons and 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes.

The EE are by far my favorites! They are friendly jolly little birds that look so unique. So far only 2 have started laying eggs but those have both been pretty colors: green-blue & pale blue. I do hope the rest start laying soon because I am interested in seeing what the colors will be.

I've got two EEs. I'm so glad I can tell them apart, only because Kevin has a black beard and Potpie has an orange-y-ish one lol. Your babes are beauties. I love seeing pics. Mine are 11 weeks in a couple days. How old were yours when they started laying?

The two that have started laying are around 18-20 weeks old. They came from a feed store so I don’t know exactly how old they were when we bought them just a rough estimate.

I love the fact that the EE are so colorful & look distinct enough that I can tell them apart. Ours are named Lucky, Unlucky, Convict, Hudson and Chicken Hawk. So far Convict & Unlucky are laying. I am looking forward to the rest starting because their egg colors are still a mystery!

I am so happy to have found an EE club! I love my little EE's, though everyone around here has fancier/more purebred chickens, and wouldn't change them for the world! I have four of them: Blue, Audrey, Lola (all named by my daughters) and George Elliot. They are all the sweetest girls and should be laying soon. I'll try to get photos later today when I clean out their coop. They have two Black Sex-Linked roommates who are sweeties too!
