Can you put the straw bales in the new coop? I have several older hens I got as adults, they were a little upset at first but I just gave them several different options( buckets, milkcrates, wood/ cardboard boxes) and let them pick... they chose an old push lawn seeder that was stored in the corner. Not what I had planned but it works lol. They even lined it with straw by themselves( it was empty)
Yes. It will be used in the new coop when its finished but removing the straw from the garage right now isn't really an option. Its the only place we have to store it to keep it dry. We also have our brooder in there for our chicks. We raised all of our birds from chicks and they kind of associate the garage as their safe place I guess. Its pretty difficult to just keep them out of there as we are running in and out all day working in the yard so its opened most all the time.. I don't necessarily mind that they lay in there. We don't have to go too far to collect the eggs but I don't want them to be beside themselves when they are unable to get in there after introducing them to the new coop. After how they are reacting when they are cooped up in the temporary coop unable to get to the garage, I'm just worried about them injuring themselves trying to get out. I guess I worry too much :/ I've even tried putting some of the straw from the garage in the nest boxes in the temporary coop and they just won't lay in there unless They aren't let out.

e Not so excited that they chose to do it on the roost side of the coop instead of their beautiful nesting boxes and they were covered in poo. :/ Any way to know if these are from our EE's or our Wyandottes? Hoping not the EE's I want those unique blue eggs! But after 21 weeks of working and waiting is is so exciting to reap the benefits!
