I only have one, she hasn't molted yet. I took her in in September last year, when I saw her fixing to get killed by my neighbor's dumb little jack russel. I found out chickens don't lay eggs when their molting, in fact, that's how I found this website! I haven't found any Easter eggs yet--maybe she doesn't want to lay eggs now--but thank you, she is very pretty!

My Dora (WLH) went into her second year molt she stopped laying for almost 4 months, dropped to the bottom of the pecking order and was completely miserable. I didn't think she'd ever lay again. She started back last month and all is well now. She's gorgeous, moving back up in ranks and her mate, Diego is walking around with his chest all puffed out. That second year molt is heck on a girl!

Well... My girls have decided to take a break from egg laying. Except for Penny, my RIR. She gives me about 4 eggs a week right now. I think that lack of light has contributed to the lack of eggs. That happened when I decided to take out the infrared lamp that I had in the coop. I wanted to toughen up the girls to the cold. My new EE pullet gave me two "rubber" eggs last week, but no more.

So... I put a small watt bulb on a timer into the coop to see if that will get them to lay just a bit more.. I am very curious as to what color egg my new EE, Rumples will lay. Please, please be a lovely shade of blue!!

question - I have 2 d'uccles and 2 silkies (1 roo and 1 hen each). I want 2 ee pullets. I have found someone who sells started pullets which is what I want because my birds have mareks and these will be vaccinated and grown out some.

I think ee's are on the smaller size of LF and they should all get along. I'm trying to decide how old of ee's I need to get so they aren't already bigger than my 2# or less current birds.

I figure if I get smaller or same size, it would go better introducing them.

Any ideas?

Thanks to ChickCrazed I'm the proud mama of 2 EE's a Linus, a Cochin Roo, 2 Barred rocks, 2 red sex links and 2 of Brad's silkie's chicks. I'm so tickled right now I could bust, DH wants to go to bed and I just want to watch the chickens and chicks... am I nuts or what?

It's Chicken TV..

I took some pics today of my flock which consists of two Easter Eggers, a Light Brahma, a Cuckoo Marans, a Buff Orphington and a Black Australorp. The younger of the two EE's (Salem, I got her on Halloween) just got her adult voice recently and is at the very bottom of the pecking order and has yet to lay. Archaeopteryx (Teryx) was laying lovely size large blue eggs but has taken about a month off now, hopefully she'll be starting up again soon.

My ee were laying regular but have slowed to only 1/4 now.
Egg eaters need to be caged with mustard filled eggshell.
I have only light green eggs from mine..
Chicken scratch poultry has a line that lay blue eggs.
