I love my EEs. They are so unique! All but one of them were hatched out of a full-grown hen given to me almost 4 years ago. My roo (Red) was bought as a 2-week old chick. He has not fathered any yet, but I am putting him with the best pullets I have raised, along with their mom. He is not related to any of them. Can't til spring, when I will hatch some of their eggs! Gonna be beautiful. How do I post pics of them?

If you want to get technical, the lavender Ameraucanas are just EEs at this point since they are not officially a recognized color yet. They are VERY docile and friendly. I have a hard time taking their picture because they run right up to check out the camera and they like to stand on my feet or right next to me, so I have to be careful not to step on them

Here are a couple of pictures of them that I was able to take.

Sounds awesome! I love the look of your lavenders! PM me with cost info on your lav chicks. I would pick them up so don't factor in shipping costs. I won't be ready til spring though. Kinda got my hands full right now.

Every chance she gets! Its usually a race between her, Puddy and Matilda to see who can get to the window first. If I'm not there or arent paying attention, they will tap on the glass until I open it.

Yesterday the back door was open while I was going in & out of the house. I went in for a snack, not thinking anything of it, and when I turned around (with a handful of grapes) the three of them were standing behind me- IN THE KITCHEN!!!! I told them they didnt want to be that close to the oven and then shoo'ed them out, LOL!

The brown/black/yellow speckled-ish color seems to be pretty common in EE's (like Salty, Sprinkles, and Tiger). Out of curiosity, does anyone have a boy that color? I've only ever seen females that pattern.

The genetics of EE's would be a cool thing to study! There are SO many colors, patterns and variations!

So cute!
The subject of EE genetics gets pretty heated. Hard to believe but people get upset when trying to discuss this subject. Lots of great info online though.

Lesalynn click on the learning center tab at the very top of this page, it will guide you to the instructions for uploading pics. I just use BYCs storage area for uploads but there are several options.

Love the pics of everyone's birds!!! I really enjoy looking at pics of fellow BYCers' chickens.

EE genetics a heated topic? Whaat? Where? The only disagreement I've seen are people insisting they're "a box of chocolates" vs those who insist they know what's in an EE they see, (or most of what is there) which sorry, is true if they know genetics.

Anyway, love the EE's I'm seeing.

I'd post mine but it would be a LOT of photos of a LOT of different combos and "recipes" including the typical hatchery stock too. And most of mine are already over in another EE thread or two or three.

Just thought I'd post some pics of the Silkied Easter Egger I hatched. I don't know if she came from my eggs or eggs I got in a swap, but I do know that she is NOT mixed with a Silkie (breed). I'm 95% sure she is a girl, enjoy!
