One of my birds has that waddle neck thing too and does the same thing, thought something might be up but I'm reassured its a female time and again... I also have shiney green black neck feathers on this bird but in told a salmon breasted bird is a hen though its got an impressive comb. I also have a black bird I think may be male and its feathers also shine green.

I'd like to join. One of our six new chicks is an Easter Egger...here is her picture. No name yet. Just arrived today. I wonder wait color her eggs will be?

She is a cutie! Takes lots of pics cause they grow up super fast. Do let us know what color eggs she ends up laying.

Hello, BYC Buddies! 

A quick question:

I have a beautiful Easter Egger pullet. She is five months old and appears to be a HEN. Flat pinkish pea comb, nice rounded tailfeathers... No sign of rooness in the saddle or hackle feathers. 

BUT... 


Today, I noticed that some of her featherse coming in around her wings and neck have a beetle sheen to them, similar to my Wheaten Ameraucana roo. None of my other pullets have this, so I am wondering if this is normal for a hen? 

It might also be important to note that most of her feathering is black. 

It happens, I have one with really long shiny green hackles. If she didn't lay eggs I would think she was a roo.

This neck trait helps with making the beard appear very large .

My 2 week old Easter egger Fiona does anyone have any idea on color for her or had chicks that look like her im dieing to know what shes gonna look like ??
