Why are there green marbles in that bowl? And what is that yellow gunk? I'm just curious.
Thanks

That was when I first brought them home, when I was setting up the brooder. The chicks were just a few days old so I added marbles to the dish to keep them from splashing the water around or from falling asleep in the dish and drowning. The gunk is shavings that got in the water, it's yellow because of the electrolyte that was added.

I'm so worried my Molly is a rooster.... Her comb is a little bigger than the others but not really been anything but pink. This is my friendliest chicken and loves me, comes and climbs up on my shoulder all the time. Just worried about getting a mean one really, I don't think there is anything against having them around here. My coworker that has two roo's in her bunch and their combs are very evident but with mine being an EE I'm just worried.

This is all my girls, it's only a small bit larger that the other ones. (the one in question on the left).

those hackle feathers look pointed too so the guess from us would be roo. We aren't familiar with EEs but they should be a lot like other chickens. Reddening comb, thicker legs and pointed hackels indicate roo. Are the leggs thicker too? Can't see well in the photo. It will be a great looking bird either way. Our buff roo is our friendliest bird. Maybe you'll get lucky and have a true gentleman.

I would also guess roo. The coloring doesn't seem to have the more consistent pattern of an EE pullet. Can you get a close up of the comb?
