2 and 3 maybe... my pretty gray EE is a cockerel... bummmmer. Two of my five are, I am keeping one (it's my friendliest one) and it's not the gray one--they are 11 weeks and both have been crowing at least two... that's how I found out my gray one was! Best of luck!

I'm a new chicken mom but you're not alone because I have a feeling that 3 and possibly 4 of my EEs are cockerels also. I only got 4 to begin with. Maybe tomorrow i will post pics and someone can help me decide.

Here is a youtube video "How to tell a rooster from a hen" in 2-mo-old chicks. In my case my Ameraucana pullet kept a very light pink comb until it turned reddish just before POL. The cockerels' combs get reddish early on. Hope this video helps you - it has an EE in it:

I couldn't go by the combs on mine at all. What helped me know before the crow was 1) behavior toward a mirror and 2) rusty red color patches on the wings / patchy coloring. The first clue was at around two weeks old and then the second was around five weeks. If I went by just comb shape and color, I would have thought my girl was a boy!

Dorothy is now 2 weeks old, and is getting HUGE!

And little Sophia is 1 week old... still fluffy as can be.

The size difference of 1 week is incredible at this age! And yet, I watched this morning as little Sophia stole Dorothy's piece of grass and then jumped up and pecked her. Spunky little girl.

She is still soo pretty!! Sophia fits her namesake lol!

We have two little EE's in our new flock...they are still in the brooder but I can tell already that they are something special! One in particular "Gizmo" is just the best little chick!! She is super aware, curious, brave, and a little escape artist. I fear that this could be a bad combinations once they begin free ranging though :(
