Thanks! Your boy is pretty awesome too. Wester (the hen) lays beautiful light blue eggs. Right now she looks like she got caught in a lawnmower, have to figure out if it is a feather picker in the bunch, or if it is just left over from our now gone Brahama rooster that tore a few of them up and I just have to wait for molt.Aw, too bad. Your hen is still gorgeous though![]()

Was there any sign of anything at all? Blood? I can see you have chain link fence, but I can not tell if it is wrapped with anything else.I lost another one: This time it was Pepper.
There were no holes in or under the fence, no mutilated body, in fact no sign of any struggle at all; she was just lying on her side, completely unmolested, just - dead. That leaves me with one rooster, one cockerel, one hen a-laying and four remaining pullets. Maybe I should have gotten 12 chicks...
EDIT: Speaking of which, where would be the best place where I could get some 'replacement' EE pullet/chicks? I live about 40 miles North of Columbia, SC. I figure if I started raising them now they might start laying next spring about the same time as the others.
Nice! As to separating, yeah, was just thinking this weekend that maybe I can take the 3 that are missing feathers and isolate them. It is either the Brahma right above them in pecking order or it is the other EE that is above Wester in the pecking order.....grrrr.Aww, poor Wester. She'll be as good as new soon. Have you thought about separating her for a little while to see if she stops getting worse? That could be one way of finding out if you have a bully in the group.
Today I traded Mr. Duck Feet for a beautiful white crested blue Polish Rooster. I plan on cross breeding some of my various breeds to create a fully crested blue egg layer. Technically they'll just be easter eggers, but they'll be my special brand of easter egger. LOL
