Here's my flock (the Easter Eggers are a little over 16 weeks).

Blackstock

He's my older rooster, I believe he's a Black Australorp. The reason he has no tail is because he had a run in with whatever was killing off my birds. Since I have seen no definite evidence of any more attacks since then I am assuming that either 1). I have successfully cut off it's access to the pen, 2). Blackstock taught it the error of it's ways, or 3). It decided that the combination of trying to get in and having to deal with Blackstock outweighed the benefits.

Braveheart
She was the first chick I selected when I got my EE flock. When I put my hand into the breeder box at the feed store she jumped right into it! And from then on she was always the first to try anything new.

Chaz
All the chicks I bought were supposed to have been sexed and female. However at some point Chaz decided she would rather be a he. So I decided to name him after Chaz Bono.

Muffin
Do I really need to explain?

Ol' Red
Not sure what breed, she is my oldest hen, and at almost three she's also my oldest chicken.

Robin
Also should be obvious, she has a prominent red breast!

This one started out as an all black chick, gradually as she feathered out she became both black and white. As she grew the white slowly disappeared until just the tips of her wings were white. Then the changes seemed to stop. So I named her Silvertips. However starting a couple of weeks ago those too faded away and now she is all black. So I guess I'll have to come up with a different name.

This is why I try and refrain from naming my birds when they are still young!

Ol Red is a Production Red, and Silvertips is an Australorp. The white primaries when young are fairly common, and as you have learned, they do eventually molt out.

Well they were supposed to all be EE's, but then they were all supposed to be pullets too. 'Silvertips' could be part Austra and still be an Easter Egger though, right? As I understand it an EE is the result of a chicken with the blue egg gene and either a brown or white egg layer. I guess I'll find out when she lays something.

I forget what Ol' Red was supposed to be. I was told a year later when I bought Blackstock that the black chicks in the bin were Aussies. But again, she was probably 'told' just as I was. Blackstock has been very protective of his ladies yet not too aggressive. Although I did have to learn him that I was the Alpha Chook.

So at the moment I'm not sure which Roo I'll be keeping. Chas is certainly the handsomer of the two, AFAIC.

As for Silvertips, her white feathers didn't 'molt' out so much as fade out, IOW she didn't shed them, the "silver tips" just got smaller and smaller until they disappeared.

I do want to get some more EE pullets to replace the hens that I lost, I don't suppose you could recommend a good source here in the middle of the Carolinas?

@FlyWheel Awesome names, beautiful birds. I love how you named them according to physical and personality traits. Your Braveheart sounds a lot like my Sassy. :)
Thanks. I have named all my birds in that fashion.

Braveheart and The Chicken Formerly Known As Silvertips are the most people friendly, Ol' Red, Chas and Robin the flightiest. None of them will hop up on my hand anymore, but they will all more or less willingly take treats from it, Blackstock still 'challenges' me from time to time, but he pretty well has gotten the idea that I'm Alpha. I guess I need to spend more time with them?

"As I understand it an EE is the result of a chicken with the blue egg gene and either a brown or white egg layer."

This is a very common, but false, assumption. Hatchery-type Easter Eggers are not 'mixed' any more than any other hatchery breed. They just aren't bred to meet the breed standards for either Araucana or Ameraucana.
Silvertips is likely an Australorp that just got put back into the wrong bin. Happens all the time.

OK, so I'll a

OK, so I'll ask again; can anyone recommend a good source for Easter Egger pullets?
