These are my two chicks. They are about 6 weeks old in these photos. Any ideas on sex? The first one we call Chiquita, I am wondering about the color of the comb. And yup, a bit cross beaked too.





This is Ginger, I'm fairly confident this is indeed a pullet.

I thought the red was indication of roo? I am hoping they are both pullets, no use for a cross beaked roo, other than soup

ya im saying they look like pullets but then the comb is very small so that is a good pullet sign but then again comb is very red which may or may notbe a cockeralish sign

Yeah, so far the coloring says one thing & the comb color says another. We will have to see what they look like in a few more weeks. Thanks.

They look very little. How many weeks old? Or maybe the bamboo is just big! Eggs yet?

WooHoo! Chicken coop passed!!! (as if I had any doubts lol)

Inspector said I am free to put the chicks out there today if I wanted. But I think Ill wait a few more days. Although they are almost fully feathered out now, I just turned the heat lamp off this morning, and I want them to adjust to not having it before moving them outside. Plus I still need to build the "pop door". I want to be sure I can lock them in the coop at night. At least until I can get the better wire for around the bottom of the run. I'm not worried about daytime hours to much. All our local "predators" are nocturnal (Raccoon, opossum, Skunks even...) Of course there are the neighborhood cats to watch for as well. We couldn't afford the hardware cloth to do the whole run area, and the only chicken wire we could get was the one with the 2" holes But now that we are done building I think I'll be alright to get the hardware cloth, and run it just around the bottom 2 or 3 feet. Just so nothing can reach through and grab my girls
