Awww... she is very cute. I hope you have more for her to hang out with

There's no telling what she'll look like. I had one chick like that, and he grew up to be blue with red shoulders and yellow hackle/saddle feathers. The female chicks that look like that so far have both been red/blue partridge.

I have 3 of them. They were a test hatch. The father looks like what you are describing. These are the parents

I had a BLUE... pure blue... egg with lavender spots o it. Then, after being in the fridge over night, it turned olive with brown spots. I thought I was seeing things!
why would you keep eggs in a fridge? after all, they come in their own protective packaging,
its like jams sauces and pickles, everyone puts them in the fridge but theyre preserves and dont need to be, unless you like them cold, you dont buy them from a fridge so dont need to be kept in one

free your fridge

our 4 new EE chicks braving the frozen temperatures at 6 days old, 5 days for the front yellow one closest to the frizzle, thats one day earlier than our summer hatch, at my calculations the broody is only 10 months old, none of her own eggs hatched and she lost 2 other EEs, one was pipped the other died in the shell when she left the nest to sit over the chick feeder with these 4

yesterdays frozen bread on the left from yesterday

its so cold the gooses pond in a play sandpit was frozen to the bottom and over 6" thick

My Ethel Mertz is over 33 wks old and no eggs yet. I keep hoping, but come up empty. The little bantam behind her is Charlotte- who is 36 weeks old and no eggs yet.

Quote: If the egg have been rinsed or washed then they have to be refrigerated if they're not going to be eaten within the next few days. And every jar of pickles, jams and sauces I have bought say clearly on the label "refrigerate after opening". Now whether this applies to pickles you have done yourself using the fermantation method I don't know

My Chicks Of August just turned 23 (weeks) Not sure if they'll hold out for the longer days of spring or not (one is a Marans, the rest are EEs) but I'm keeping an eye on their combs anyway....
