Today I had a neighbor come over to buy a dozen eggs while I had my girls free ranging. The lady comes walking up the sidewalk and Teryx (one of my EE's) makes a beeline for her because she has something in her hands, so it MUST be for her! The lady was a bit intimidated since she thought a pecking was coming for her, but I explained that my girl just wanted to cut out the middle man and eat the money directly instead of having me buy something for them! (just dropped a fair bit of money on an Ador1 coop door, so now the girls have made their first payment for it!) I also told the lady just to shoo her away and she'd back off, which she did. I prefer to give people the tools to handle unwanted attention from critters so they don't rely on being "rescued".
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
