Easter Egger club!

Agggh. I dont know how to cull them. Never did it before. Not above doing it, just never had to yet.

Remember, "cull" does not necessarily mean "kill".....more correct would be "remove".

You might cull a bird from your breeding program, by putting her in your laying flock or selling her for layer use.

But in this case, you cannot really sell her as a layer....so there is only one cull left....and I'm not going to get into the "how to" humanely argument.....lol!!

Miggea he is so handsome! It won't be long before his colors pop out. I am not sure how much coloring he will have but watch for it on his black and red feathers. My Lil branty only iridescent on his red/orange feathers.
400
my large male pops colors everywhere!! So lucky there!

Yes, that is what I do. I either take them to market for someone to buy them to use at meat or just "get rid of them" here at home. Usually when the eggs are really soft, they come from older hens and it happened last year when some of the girls started laying too. When my hens get older the shell gets thinner then it is time or else I will have egg eaters. Also when they brake in the nest box, it gets gross and smells if you don't get it all out.

I love my EE roo's tail feathers! Cant wait until he is big and fluffy and iridescent!

That's a very interesting Roo!
The pea comb, and appears in some photos to have a beard, but in others not...maybe he was just fluffed up?
Some features seem to be quite "Ameraucana" like, but yet yellow legs!!
Would love to see the breeding in him! LOL

NIce bird!!

wow, I wish I had that many eggs. I only get about 10 eggs a day out of 17 and they are all a year old. That's not that good of a ratio. What breeds do you have?
