Easter Egger club!

Supposedly it's what they use to clean them in oil spills and what not.
In fact there is actually a duckling on the front of my bottle of dawn.
I'd say it's probably okay.
Thats what I thought too, so I went ahead and did it, with

.

I thought I was in the duck forum lol.
I imagine it'd still be okay for chickens too
lol I have to double check where I am all the time.... they say that's a sign of old age...

It seems to me we used Dawn when kids where in 4-H. We used a blue plastic wash tub, and a hair blower...

I can't remember if we did the vinegar thing... I don't think so but not a bad idea... might have to try that on my 2 girls when I decide to bathe them.

I know some folks do herbal bathes as well. There are probably herbal mixes you can purchase pre-made on the web for chickens for various uses:

I found the Traditional one used on Vietnamese Game birds I want to try out as I think the medical properties it should have would be good.

I'll tell you all! LOL
Pros
very inquisitive, if you sit down they will come running over
they are gorgeous!!!
their eggs are beautiful
they will sit in your lap, whether you want them to or not!
they seem to lay eggs for a long time (my pullets don't lay yet and the other one I have, Emma, was still laying at 5 1\2-6 years old, albeit not very much, that's when I got her)

Cons
they are a little skittery if not raised right
they are not high-production breeds from what I have heard
they will peck EVERYTHING, even more so than other breeds. (eyes ant teeth especially!!)
you MUST close your eyes if you see them streach their neck towards you face and tilt their head. This is the EE pecking routine!

that's all I can think of right now! good luck with your new chickies.

I'm curious about one of my EE'ers. She has just started developing red in her wattle area but had no comb to speak of and its still dark. She's 25 weeks old. Is she ok? Late bloomer? She's the dark hen in the back. Hard to see but I'll try to get a better picture today.
