This is my bantam easter egger, Angelina. I love her colouring and upright tail feathers. Does anyone know what colour this is called? Black laced silver or penciled silver, maybe?

Thanks, it's a bad picture.But a few days ago I went to the coop and found her with only one tail feather left! So I didn't want to take a picture of her looking like that. I'm not sure what happened with her tail. She has plucked her breast feathers out before, but this is new.

Not all EEs sport a beard/muff and since she doesn't show wattle development and seeing the somewhat traditional EE pattern/coloring she looks EE to me! Let us know what her egg color turns out - white, pink, tan, green/blue?

Thanks, I love theit fluffy cheeks so hearing they don't all have beards is a little dissapointing. My only other EE is a bantam and she lays light green eggs. But this one won't lay for another 2-3 months so I'll be waiting to find the colour out for awhile. Another question I had about the breed is their hardieness. I purchased 4 chicks on 2 seperate occasions. And each time 1 died at less than a week and the other one is fine. The same thing happened with RIR with 2 out of 4 dying at point of lay. Is it a coincidense that I have bad luck with these 2 breeds? Or is this normal?Because I stopped getting RIR but I love EE too much to not get a few more.

How would you tell if it's an EE when it's a rooster?

You breed him to a white or brown egg layer. If any of the resulting pullets lay blue/green eggs, he's an Easter Egger.

She's wild-type silver partridge.
