Easter Egger club!

30 weeks old and not laying.
400

I looked at my chart from last year and my EE started laying at 34 weeks so you're still on track.

My two EEs started laying at around 22-23 weeks. My son and his wife got a couple the same time I got mine, but one died and the other was stunted a little due to them not getting the new chickies out with the older ones until they were close to 10 weeks. They were in a Rubbermaid tote for way too long, but they were dealing with a kitchen floor remodel that preoccupied them. The babes all caught up by now, but they aren't laying yet at what? 26 weeks now. But my son said a friend of theirs has some EEs that are several weeks older than ours and they still haven't laid. I dunno why mine have been so good about laying not only early, but almost every day. Maybe once a week each one of them doesn't lay an egg. They've been very consistent and happy girls! Maybe it's because I give them lots of goodies. They get the fermented grain or oatmeal every day, and lots of weeds and veggies, and sunflower seeds, watermelon, their oyster shells, etc. They're such funny birds. I can always tell when they're talking. They sound like a couple of dinosaurs or something. I call them the raptors.

My first batch of easter and olive eggers are about 28 weeks. The first to lay an egg was 21. Over the last month and a half "the gang of nine" have been taking their turns starting. Yesterday the sevens laid her first egg and two haven't laid an egg yet. Another member on this thread said that they had an easters egger start laying at 34 weeks! I've sure the amazing diet you're are on are not causing your girls to be late-starters. Good luck!!

Hello All!

I am here again with a question lol.

So as you can see in my picture my EE on the front left looks like she constantly has bed head. the feathers on her neck curl in a windblown mess. It is adorable however my other ladies don't have that (see second picture EE all the way to the right). Could it be what one of her "ingredients" is? Like her genetic makeup? What breeds have fly away feathers like this? I did check just in case for mites and it isn't that. Thank you in advance!

It seems to be a genetic mutation frequently seen in Easter Eggers. I've actually bred a few that ended up with those sort of neck feathers.

Might have some frizzle in their genes?

called angel wings when the feathers curl back around the neck, genetic thing and I think it happens more with chickens with beard and muffs
