One of 4 of my EE eggs has hatched! I'm very happy to see that it is yellow...my OE that hatched early yesterday is black...I was hoping for some lighter colors! My other 2 EE's that are 3 weeks old are a sliver/blue and black/bared color. Now just three EE's, 1 OE, and 6 FBCM eggs to hatch! Whew, I'll be a nervous wreck by the time this hatch is over! LOL!
Yes. Some breeders guarentee that they only incubate GREEN eggs to try to get as many hens that lay green eggs as possible.Um, sorry to burst your bubble, but being an Easter Egger does not guarantee she'll lay a green or blue egg. Of my 7 EE's I get one medium green egg, two light green eggs, one light blue egg, one very light blue (almost white) egg, one yellow/gold and one pink.
That's why their called Easter Eggers; you never know what color egg your going to get until you find it!
Not all of mine like it. Just Uranus! Mars likes to perch on my shoulder like my parrots lol.I've noticed that...all chicks seem to have that response. I think my duck and goslings did too, but it's been so long I cannot remember for sure. I wonder why that is? Just about every reflex action has a reason, especially in animals that rely a lot on instinct.
Oh well I won't do it anymoreYes, that is what you do to roosters to calm them so you can milk the semen from them for artificial insemination. What I have read is that they instinctively "play dead" when placed on their backs, to cause a predator to lose interest when they are in that very vulnerable position. Moving or struggling would get their guts ripped out.
ETA I found an article from an experiment that showed they will remain immobile longer when they know they are being watched, in comparison to when there was a plywood barrier placed between the bird and the observer. So, in theory, and not to burst anyone's bubble, you could say its as cute or funny as scaring the **** out of your cat with a cucumber.
She is mostly yellow with these pretty silvery white wing feathers. I can tell she's definitely an EE because of dem foofy cheeks.Solid yellow or patterned? I got a yellow chipmunk this time and she's exactly like if you could take a BBR pullet and soak her in bleach. She's not white, exactly, more of a cream color and her patterning is barely there. The brown shows as faint stippling on her back and the breast has a peach wash to it
Pictures! Mine are all at the egg wait stage and as exciting as that is, I miss this...
