This guy is a great example of male specific feathering just starting to come in. See those gold feathers near the base of the tail? Those are male saddle feathers.

This photo shows a good comparison between male and female saddle feathers. The cockerel in the very back and the pullet in front of him. Ignore the molting and broody hen in the shot. Notice how his saddle feathers are much thinner.
