Easter Egger cockerel or puller?

Hi, I’m new to this website and I was hoping to get a second opinion on my two Easter riggers that are possible cockerels. I’m positive that the grey one is 100% a cockerel due to the red comb getting redder by the day, but the orange reddish one is one that I need an opinion. I took these photos about two or three days ago, these chicks are about 4 weeks old. The orange chicks comb is pink but it hasn’t changed in the past few days. Hopefully this makes sense .

4 Weeks is a little young to be able to tell genders for sure. Usually 6-8 weeks is when signs become more clear, because you'd be surprised how many hens look like roos and roos look like hens at this age.

Easter Eggers are the hardest chickens to sex! Your chicks are a little too young to tell. I have struggled with two who were hatched at the same time. One was obviously a rooster but I swore (and so did most others on this forum) the other was a pullet. Finally the "girl" started crowing and I couldn't deny she was a rooster! They look very different too. They will either lay an egg or crow and that is when you will know for sure!

Same day photo of "Lucille" now is "Bill"!! Very different but both boys. Same age too. Both hatched the same day!!

Dang ok. I’ll have to wait and see. I thought pink combs at a young age generally means that it’s a rooster? Also is there any breed of chicken that is easily sexed after hatching? I love having chickens but it’s hard for me to get rid of them, even when they are roosters

Other breeds can be sexed after hatching, and other breeds can be determined as early as 6 weeks. Easter Eggers don't get waddles and that is one thing that makes it difficult to know the sex! You can have many roosters together as long as you have the space so they don't fight. I have 4 right now and none has ever fought with any other. I have a free range area of about the size of 1/2 football field. I have 2 runs and coops. They decide where they want to roost and sleep and some change from coop to coop! So, I think because of space, everyone gets along.

Yeah I have 4 roosters as well lol. I hatched 3 of them while I was in high school and they all turned out to be roosters. And we got one rooster with several hens. The 3 have their own run and coop, but no hens. We ordered female chicks (but I get that it’s not always 100% correct) to give to the rooster with hens already when they were old enough. Seems silly but a few of his girls were killed by predators.
So I don’t really want to house anymore but we’ll see if I’m right with the one cockerel and hopefully the orange one is just a tricky hen

There are many breeds that can be sexed at birth either by chick down color or by feather sexing. Sex-link chickens are the ones that have different down fur based on gender.

Although I must say that my black copper Marans I’ve been able to sex at as early as four weeks old with over 80% accuracy.

I actually find EEs to be rather easy to sex.
Can we get clearer pics of your suspect, in natural light? 4 weeks is a little young, (typically we ask for 6-8 weeks). I think I see something I want to get a better look at.

I got some new pictures in better lighting just not sunlight since it’s cloudy out. Hopefully these look better than the first:
1: (positive it’s a cockerel) it didn’t want to stand still.


2: the one I’m not too sure about.


I’ll probably post again in two weeks when they are 6 weeks, then 8 weeks and then 10 weeks. Hopefully I’ll have a confirmed answer by then!
