Easter Egger Hen or Roo?

@suzaboo
I think what you may be failing to grasp is that they are all cross breed mutts.... nothing wrong with that, I love mutts.... but just because one parent is an EE or OE, doesn't mean the offspring can be considered EE or OE. This is especially true with EE and OE parents as oppose to other "proper" breeds like leghorns, wyandottes, marans, RIR etc as EEs and OEs are already a mixed breed bird to start with, so no guarantee of any particular characteristic coming through in the next generation, even if you breed them together.ie EExEE really just makes an EE crossbreed.

I agree 3 definite cockerels at this stage but that doesn't necessarily guarantee the other 2 are females as late developing males can occur particularly with less obvious comb types.

Enjoy your birds. Backyard mixes are especially fun and generally hardy and prolific.

Just so you know, the only time you have an Easter Egger is when one parent is a pure blood Ameraucana or Araucana and the other parent is any other breed. EE is for that first generation hybrid only.

An EE bred to something else is simply a backyard mix, or "mutt." Fun birds, but not EE's as EE is not a breed.

Feathers on the legs simply indicate a breed somewhere back was used in the parentage for the feathers. I suspicion Marans somewhere along the line if you truly have army green olive egger and she has feathers on her legs. Marans are often used to bring in the dark brown color for the olive egg project. (It takes a dark brown layer mated to a blue egg layer to produce olive).

Have fun with your flock :D

Thanx! I guess my babies are backyard mutts then, love them and look forward to spring when they can play outside.
