Monday I noticed my favorite EE pullet had her feathers a mess on her back. She is with 2 Delawares, another EE, a sexlink, and a turkin. they have been together since day 1. All are 18 weeks and the sexlink has been laying for 1 week. Anyhow, last night my husband picked her up and noticed that she is very light. When he put her down she fell over. As the Pullets used the latter to coop, this baby could not make it. I ended up putting her in a dog kennel over night with a cup of grubblys, water, 22% starter feed, and a portion of flock block. I dont know what happened. She has always been happy and healthy and I did not think she was lowest in the pecking order. What can or should I do? Should I keep her alone until she puts weight on? Is it normal for the pullets to turn on one? Would appreciate any suggestions.

If a bird is sick or weak the others will often attack them. It's just survival instinct to drive the weak away as they may draw predators. She may have been kept from feed. Do you have a vet that will do a fecal test for you to check for internal parasites? That could be a reason for weight loss. I would keep her crated for now, with her own food and water. Check her crop to make sure it's emptying properly. It should be empty first thing in the morning before access to food and water (take it out before you go to bed, you can give it back after you check). If it's not empty in the morning then there may be a problem. Also get a look at her droppings to see if they are normal or not. Pictures are welcome. She may just be weak and dehydrated, and some food and water may make a difference. If you have any poultry nutri drench give her a dose of that. Update this on what you find out about crop and droppings.
