1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
Easter Egger hen 8 months old, not laying, smaller then her mates and bit of the runt but she is a smaller breed then them.

2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Wheezing breathing, kinda like honking but not.

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
Few hours this afternoon

4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
No other birds seem fine

5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
No sign of injury

6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
No idea, we have cameras in the coop/run area that we will review.

7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
She was out pecking around on the ground following her flock while she was wheezing. Seems a little tired.
Her crop seems kinda empty, looked in throat and dont feeling anything except a lump near her neck which I dont know if that is normal.

8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
Have isolated her in a pen in our garage with clean litter, food, and water but no poop yet to look at

9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
I have mixed up some Nutri drench in water to give her but she is pretty agitated about being isolated so hasn't drank yet. Trying to calm her with a bit of darkness in her pen.

10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
We would treat her ourselves or take her to a vent but they are all closed till Monday.

11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.

12) Describe the housing/bedding in use
We have a clean coop with course sand under grates.

The sound she is making is called stridor, which is when a small piece of feed or a mucus plug gets stuck in the airway. It usually clears up overnight in a lot of cases. I would let her back with her flock with some water to drink before she goes to roost. I had a hen who did this often when she literally inhaled her food too fast. Sometimes the feed can be too powdery. You could try adding a bit of water to a small bowl of feed for her. Let us know if she sounds better in the morning.

I went through a bout of respiratory illness when I brought a couple new pullets here. Even in quarantine they managed to infect my whole flock. We figured it was Mycoplasma Gallisepticum (MG), I treated with Tylosin and the issue with most of them resolved. I have 2 silkies that are still left with issues. At any rate this was the noise they were making with their respirations.

Of course it could be many things, I would keep an eye on her for a bit. And if you can get access to Tylosin or Tetracycline you can treat with that if she doesn't improve.

Good Luck - I am thinking good thoughts for her, she's a beauty.

Yes TY! Yes we saw some related videos with the exact same noise and assessment. We gave her some water, nutri-drench, some wet crumble mash with strike3 added (suggested by our local hatchery), and more water lol, and on your advice put her back in with her flock for the night so she is not lonely. Her honking seems to quiet down once she settles in. Will report back how it goes tomorrow.
