This year is my first year doing a backyard chicken flock and was wondering between the easter eggers and ameraucana which one is noiser. I dont wanna be overly obnoxious to my neighbors so i want something a little quieter but i am allowed to have at least 6 chickens. My husbands family also has land do if 1 or 2 get too loud i can give them to his family. Any advice is so appreciated. Also guce me any advice on family friendly handlable breeds. I tried barred rocks but none are available so i was thinking of trying domoniques? Help.

I should add these are the current chickens im looking at so advice is so appreciative these are all questionable cause im just not sure

I have an Orpington, 2 Easter Eggers, and a Speckled Sussex. The Sussex is very chatty, and talks all the time. One of my EEs began laying before the Orpington, and never uttered a sound, until the Orp taught her that it's appropriate to sing a nice, loud egg song. None are particularly loud beyond the normal things: egg songs, greetings, and alarm calls.

That same EE has resumed egg laying first this spring, and is again quiet. . .

All of mine are friendly, and easy to handle. Be sure you spend a lot of time with them as chicks, so they get used to you and associate you with fun, treats, and gentleness.

Really? Okay. I have a 3 year old that ill let look and help collect eggs but not hold the birds tell shes older but i know shes already onsessed cause she asks to look a chicks all day. Any other reccomendations from the ones i listed any advice is appreciated

Okay thank you currently im looking at a sussex, a red star maybe a cochin and maybe a domonique not to sure and maybe a wyandottee but im just not sure what direction is best.
I have red sexlinks. They lay well and my two are quiet. Red stars are another name they have.

I have 2 GLWs. They lay well too. They can be a little bossy, but again, it can vary from bird to bird. My two are quite bossy.

If I were you, I would try to branch out and collect different egg colors. Most hatchery EEs lay blue/green. All of my EEs from TSC lay blue, but I also used them to breed some OEs last year.

The breeds you listed ALL lay brown eggs. Which are plain, in my opinion.

No, I totally understand, which is why BYC exists. I don't think you can make a mistake with EEs or OEs. Red Stars are good, but don't live very long. I have a BR too, she is pretty friendly. Dominiques are one I don't have. Blue has a few though @BigBlueHen53
