Easter egger or ameraucana

This year is my first year doing a backyard chicken flock and was wondering between the easter eggers and ameraucana which one is noiser. I dont wanna be overly obnoxious to my neighbors so i want something a little quieter but i am allowed to have at least 6 chickens. My husbands family also has land do if 1 or 2 get too loud i can give them to his family. Any advice is so appreciated. Also guce me any advice on family friendly handlable breeds. I tried barred rocks but none are available so i was thinking of trying domoniques? Help.

I should add these are the current chickens im looking at so advice is so appreciative these are all questionable cause im just not sure
Cochin
Wyandotte
Maran
Bielefelder
Red star
Domonique
Sussex
Easter egger
Amerucana
Bantam cochins will be the friendliest birds you’ve ever owned.

Ameraucanas tend to be towards the top of the pecking order, though they are still extremely friendly. None have mine have ever been loud, except from the occasional crow of one of the roosters.

My Easter Egger is friendly and quiet too.

These are my too three when it comes to breeds. 😊

Okay thank you so much.

Maybe consider bantams if you have a 3yo. All of mine will peck eyes if they get a chance, although they seem to be getting better about that as they get older. Just something to be aware of.

My Sussex is pretty quiet unless she’s just laid an egg. My Dominique is very friendly and will complain to me if I come out but don’t bring treats. Both are good layers - lay 3-4 days then skip a day. Both tend to go broody, but the Sussex far more often than the Dominique. My EE is also very friendly and pretty noisy as well, but she’s one of my most reliable layers. I have an Olive Egger who is not very friendly but is a great layer and lays nice big eggs. My Marans is not particularly friendly but she’s a great flock queen and is pretty chill. I have a half Wyandotte who is not very friendly but calm and quiet. I have a couple of juvenile ISA Browns which are similar to Red Stars - they’re pretty curious but raised by my Sussex who is a little standoffish but are learning to be more friendly. Hoped that helps, though you’re going to get personality differences within all breeds.

I think it is luck of the draw or personality not necessarily breed. I have two Easter Egger hens, one is quiet and the other can be vocal. Out of all the Barred Rocks I have ever had, they are the quiet ones. One of my Rhode Islands is a talker, the other is not. When I say talker, she squawks all the time, all day long; ergo her name is Reba!

No, I totally understand, which is why BYC exists. I don't think you can make a mistake with EEs or OEs. Red Stars are good, but don't live very long. I have a BR too, she is pretty friendly. Dominiques are one I don't have. Blue has a few though @BigBlueHen53
My 5 little Doms are just over 5 months old and just coming into lay. I can't speak to them being either particularly noisy or quiet at this point! But I will start trying to pay attention and see if they are big announcers of the egg-laying process or not. I have a couple of EEs that just go on and on about it and get everybody else involved in congratulating them, lol! Others just quietly and privately go about their business and then sneak away so

between the easter eggers and ameraucana
First of all, learn the difference between Am's and EE's.
Ameraucana are pure breed, that are hard to find and expensive.
Most birds labeled Ameraucana in a hatchery/farm store are actually EE's.

EE's are a cross between a blue laying breed(often Ameraucana or Araucana) and almost any other breed, thus they vary greatly in appearance and egg color.

Second, no specific breed is guaranteed to be quieter than any other.
They are all individuals and environment can play a part in behaviors.

How loud they are can vary by individuals. That said, I've had quite a few EE and a couple of AM and they've all seemed fairly quiet. It's up to you, but I second the suggestion to mix up your egg colors. I love getting a rainbow of eggs. Maybe get a few brown layers and add in a couple of Easter eggers (mine have all laid a mint green color), an olive egger and a leghorn. That will give you some variety, but without having to drop $ on fancy breeds. That would be my suggestion.
