Will they get along and be able to live in the same coop, if they’re raised together from chicks? I have 2 silkie chicks with an Easter Egger chick right now. I’m already worried that the Easter Egger will get big and trample my silkies. Is this a realistic concern? I read somewhere that raised from babies it’s fine...but now I’m reading that silkies shouldn’t be kept with large breeds. The silkie chicks are about half the size of the Easter egg chick. The parents my silkies come from are very small, even for silkies. They don’t have the really large crests though, so can see well.
The Easter Egger will accidentally step on the silkies while they’re sleeping etc. I thought this was just normal chick stuff, but now I’m worried one of my silkie babies could actually get injured. They all cuddle and sleep together, and it’s really sweet. They’ve been together for 2 days now and seem to have bonded. I feel bad separating them, and my kids are attached to all of them and have named them etc. Do I need to take the Easher Egger back to the store just to be safe though? I’ve already spoken to the store, and they will take her back and I can choose a different breed.
