I paid for pullets from Hoovers and this little guy is making me wonder if she is really a he. Asked on Reddit and FB and everyone has said roo.

She/he started off fluffy and brown and is now a wild mix of black and white spots. Very timid and cuddly. My last EE roo was a prick from week 2 so I am hopeful this is a girl.

Or is Janis Joplin really Jerry Garcia?

Chick is around 4-5weeks in these pics. I wish I had better pictures but this chick is so skittish she/he sits and hides when my phone comes close.

Looks like a cockerel to me but could still be a pullet. If the comb stops developing and stays there it could be a pullet. If it progresses more in the next week or two you will know you have a cockerel.

This is my 5th EE. My hen I wasn’t convinced was a hen until she laid her first egg. Then my roo I swore was a hen until he crowed at 13 MONTHS. Why I keep doing this to myself I will never know.
