Easter Egger - Pullet?.

OK, so this is Doby, a 6 month old Easter Egger. She is much smaller than her counterparts (different breeds) and has always been much more shy/standoffish. I've always wondered if she was a cockerel because her body shape was different than the Buff Orp and Barred Rock hens. But, she's never crowed, like I would expect a rooster to crow, so at 6 months, I'd put my mind at ease that she is hen.

Well this morning, she started squawking terribly. Not crowing, but cluck-cluck-cluck-SQUAWK!.

I cant see anything wrong with her.

So,
1) Is she a he and just now starting to 'crow'
2) Maybe she's getting ready to lay?

If she's a roo, I'll have to get rid of her. :-(

I agree with all the others. She's either getting ready to lay soon or something freaked her out.

Pullet at point of lay. They can get pretty vocal around this time....and some never shut up after
