Hi everyone, I have an Easter Egger “pullet” that I got from TSC on 03/29/21 (so I’ve had them for almost 10 weeks) that I am questioning the gender of. It has a small comb and is fairly small in stature compared to my other hens, however, it has green tail feathers. Im fairly new to chickens so I have a hard time differentiating the gender characteristics. Any help is much appreciated.

Were they day olds when you got them? While green tail feathers are absolutely no indication of sex, both males and females can have them, a bright red comb at 10weeks is a pretty good indicator of a cockerel. What's throwing me off though is that's not the usual 3 rowed pea comb I'd expect from a cockerel. @EmmaRainboe, how about tossing in your two cents?

If it is indeed only 10 weeks, hackles could take a little longer to show up unfortunately. 🧐 Possibly a modified pea comb.....?
I think one of the most noticeable give-aways are the shoulder feathers, when they come in, they come in shiny! Perhaps they should check for those.
Hmm... Let me do some research, we will figure this out! :highfive:

I'm going to have to go with my instincts and say pullet!
Super pretty!
