Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Thanks, I can't remember what Gina looked like as a baby

. I think she was mostly yellow. I bought a whole pile of these little chicks, and gave quite a few away to friends and family. (I am the crazy chicken lady, trying to spead the chicken love

).

I am hatching a few here and there of both EE and Ameraucannas from various breeders. We have one about 3 weeks old that is getting a big three row peacomb. My son and I are in a dispute as the the gender of "Peppie" I think it might be a boy, and he is saying girl. Peppie came from a beautiful blue egg that we hatched, so I am actually hoping for a Rooster that carries a medium pure blue egg gene, as this was the color of Peppie's egg. He is hoping for a girl that lays the same blue eggs, which was (in my opinion anyway) a prettier blue than any of the purebred Ameraucanna eggs that I have thus far recieved, although I have some nice ones of those as well.

I will try to post pictures of Peppie this evening for gender guesses.

This is Souffle, my 12 week old EE who started silent crowing last week. Now, I'm wondering if this "Miss" just might be a "Mister" instead. I've looked at most of the pix in this thread and tried to figure out the differences but, I just don't see them clearly enough to be certain.

Sorry to post links but, I kept getting error messages when trying to upload the images

Anyone want to take a guess?
S/he is about 6 weeks old here. No red patches on the wings (yet). Small to almost non-existent comb. But those pointy feathers around around the base of her neck...
Cute little thing and SOO friendly - which also seems to be a 'guy thing'...

Hi Leslie!

From what I've read, that color pattern is always a pullet. By 12 weeks, a prominent bright pink comb would also be present. Maybe she's just a tomboy!

I'm not very sure with the black and white ones, but I would guess pullet since the comb is small and the color is so evenly spread. Hopefully an expert will confirm (or deny!).

Ok, this is a three week old baby that came from what was to me a very blue egg...Peppie.
Boy or girl? I am thinking now (based on this thread boy but this is my son's favorite chick, and he swears it is a girl).

Peppie seems to have some more reddish colored feathers coming in on the back and shoulders, but otherwise is black and gold, so what do the judges think. The name will stay Peppie either way, but boy or girl?

That is what I am thinking as well. Now that I think about it Peppie may be about 4 weeks old, I am at work, so I need to check hatch date on the home computer. Peppie isn't going to "freezer camp" even if a Roo, unless his personality becomes horrible, that egg was just too blue. Right now Peppie is the sweetest chick ever, and my son plays with him, he even "fetches" a pencil.

I can post pics every week or two until it becomes obvious

either way if anyone is interested. I have some pics of peppie much smaller at home.
