Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

I purchased eight straight run EE/OE chicks, posted pics of them on the What Breed or Gender thread, but wanted additional input on this one from the EE experts. S/he's ~8 weeks old, general feedback is pullet. I was thinking cockerel because of the three distinct rows of "peas". Would be thrilled if it's a pullet, just trying to clarify sexing "tricks". #5
We have a couple hens with that coloring.

Wow, that's a tough one. It's still hard to tell and I have never seen a feather pattern quite like that. Whatever it is, it's gorgeous and is going to turn into a real dandy one day! The comb looks pullet, but the tail and the thick legs makes me think more roo than pullet. Hope I'm wrong! I'm not exactly an expert anyway, but I have raised EE's for a while.
They are actually a really pretty hatch, the roosters were a golden cuckoo Marans and an EE, there's a few with this type of color, just variations in darkness. Pretty sure this one is a boy (see red on shoulders), he's gonna be gorgeous with that chest.

This is a pullet. I don't see three rows. Usually roos have a very WIDE area for a comb that is very narrow. Cuckoo???? I see a little bit of barring but not much. I would have thought that a cuckoo would have given 100% barred chicks, maybe he just had one copy of the barring gene.... interesting.... very interesting. Post pics later, I would like to see what they growout to look like. The other is a roo btw.

Yeah I knew the spangle chested one was a boy, those red patches on the shoulder are dead giveaways. Can't wait to see how he grows out. Not that I need another rooster...

You can see the rest of the hatch at https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/707726/yet-another-what-gender-are-my-ee-oes-thread, almost all of them have some degree of barring but none have 100%.

I have an 8 week old straight run too but almost sure it's a cockerel. Looks very much like yours but heavy red on wings and larger/redder comb. So, I'm going to guess pullet for this one. Oh, and as an added note, I think I heard the beginning of a crow this morning....

We've got her isolated with food and water. The wound is big - the whole back of her head and neck - but it already seems to be drying and beginning the healing process. She can't reach it, which is good. I just hope it doesn't get infected. I'm keeping an eye on it, and hoping for the best. She is alert - not in shock - but definitely traumatized.

The boys are being evicted. They go to their new home tomorrow, where there are grown roosters to help put them in their place.
Don't be too hard on the boys.
I haven't been keeping chickens very long, and when I started, I was very sensitive about bullies and all that, but in the short time that I've kept them I've learned.
Chickens will be chickens.
If I removed one for being a bully, another simply took its place.
I realized that a chickens life is rough. It's every bird for itself basically. They chase each other from food, chase after to try and take what another has etc.
But that's their world, and they don't view it like we do.
Obviously remove a bird that has been just visciously attacked or remove the attacker, but don't be angry or try to punish. They are all just doing what it is they do based on whatever it is that goes on in their little chicken heads.

Okay, FINALLY got a picture of my elusive 5th EE - could this one be a roo? I see darker splashes on his wings and neck that could be red... Also had the chipmunk patterns as a chick, if that matters.

I wouldn't "wholesale" worry about the color red. It seems like when someone picks out an EE as a cockerel, there is very specific "blood red" patching on the upper wings and a general splashing of colors all over the place, like it rolled over the paint palette. I don't think this bird shows any of that. Of course, I'm a first time chicken owner so I only know a LITTLE and learn as I go.

Chipmunk pattern doesn't mean squat with relation to gender. Both of my EEs where chipmunk as were the Partridge Chanteclers). One of mine is now a red/orange and the other, well I don't know what the pattern is called but she is kind of "Partridgey" with a black head.

1 day old. Second brown from the bottom turned into the red/orange ( I think). I can't tell you which of the other three is the other EE.:

At 1 week, you figure out which is a PC and which is an EE! I think you can just see enough toe on 2 of them to tell what they are.

2 weeks. This is easy - Green legs! Still a chipmunk. Pretty sure she turned into the "partridge". (the other chick is an Ancona).

Here is the red/orange one at 8 weeks:

And the other at 10 weeks, no longer a "chipmunk" ;)

Wow what a cool bird, looks like an owl and no doubt in my mind that's a hen. :)

Um, is it just me (maybe my computer) or is there a serious lack of blue/green on those legs? Are you sure it is an EE? I thought they always had blue/green legs. Those look pink to me.
