Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

I have no real Idea if your bird is a rooster honestly. But I have been reading all these posts, and It seems that if your bird is red around the wings and chest you may have a rooster on your hands. I am in the same boat as you, and posted a few of mine too. I really like them both and will be sad if this great looking sweetie is a boy, because I live in a neighborhood and my neighbors will be none too happy with me. Poor little guy will have to leave his friend as well. I guess we will have to wait and see. Good luck to you!

I have the worst time sexing these EE, but I am going to guess that light colored one is a roo.

Last year I purchased a total of 14 pullets, and ended up with 50% roos. All purchased at feed stores locally. This year I ordered ten pullets from My Pet Chicken. 2-EE's, 2-white rocks, 2-black Australorps (1 died at 7 days) 2- golden laced wyandotts, 1 BR, 1-SLW (singles to match singles that I have). I haven't really been worried about sexing these, but I am concerned about this darker easter egger. Her legs are a bit bigger, and much darker. The lighter headed one that still has chipmunk strips on her head is outgoing, out and about. She doesn't seek attention, but doesn't hide in the pack either. The darker redder head likes to hide with one white rock, and one of the GLW's. The BR, SLW, and one white rock jump on me, and come to greet me right away. BTW, of the two white rocks, the quiet one had a darker yellow/orange dot on top of her head. Does this mean anything? Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about the color of the legs, but the size would definitely concern me. No way to tell yet though.

Please help me... Out of the 4 sexed pullets I bought, two of them are roos. I just got another chick, hoping to have a girl. Please!?

Taffy (white) is 6.5 weeks. Jade is in the middle, and the new chick is on the right. Jade and the new one are just a bit younger.

New one on the left

6.5 week old roo in front. New one (just a bit younger) in the back

Any thoughts?

OK. My bad.
So on my young roo, I separated the feathers on his back and discovered pointy iridescent saddle feathers developing. You might want to see if your young chick has any of these starting to show. (near his rump) Also, my 8/9 week old roo has started to get some iridescent hackle feathers around his neck. You can see them really shine in the sunlight. Take your birds out in the sun and look to see if you see any shine to his feathers. (Some pullets had this for me...like my RIR has an iridescence, but it is mostly a roo thing.

The feathers on either end are pullet feathers. The ones in the middle belong to males.

Also, look for stance. This male has a male stance, has slow feathering in the shoulders and has almost no tail development. This is all classic male signs.

For those wondering about the black/white patterns of their chicks, don't give up. I was told this was a male. This black/white hen on the right is all female. She has those rust colors all over. She lays a pretty light blue egg!
